Residency without a Job Offer? - Rural and Northern Program
The Rural and Northern program became very famous some time ago, so today we are going to tell you about this program with a very interesting approach for people who are already in Canada or for those who want to come to Canada via studies.
Through this pathway, students who are attending college or university in rural towns will be able to apply for permanent residency by achieving a diploma.
Can I get residency just for studying in Canada?
Yes, in these cities we will talk about today. However, it is important to clarify that being rural cities are very small, they have a very heavy winter and psychologically could affect those who are not used to this type of climate. That is why we always recommend to put in a balance both the migratory part and the quality of life, so you can choose the right way for your plans.
The following are the 11 rural cities that apply for this program:
In Ontario:
- North Bay
- Sudbury
- Timmins
- Sault Ste. Marie
- Thunder Bay
In Manitoba:
- Brandon
- Altona/Rhineland
In Saskatchewan:
- Moose Jaw
In Alberta:
- Claresholm
In British Columbia:
- Vernon
- West Kootenay
If you are thinking of migrating to Canada via studies focusing your migration plan in any of these cities covered by the program, in Immiland we can help you to register in the colleges with which we have an agreement without any cost, you can write to us:
Will you require a job offer to obtain permanent residency?
Normally to apply for permanent residency, Canada requires work experience, but if you graduate from one of these cities, you will no longer need a job offer, but you can apply with the diploma from the university or college from which you graduated for permanent residency in Canada.
Here are the other key points of this program:
- The required level of English is CLB 6, which is a high level of English since it is obtained through studies and in order to study you must have a good level of English.
- You must demonstrate economic solvency and this will depend on how many people migrate with you. Below we share with you the values requested by this program.
- 1 person = 2290
- 2 persons = 2851
- 3 persons = 3505
- 4 persons = 4256
- Intention to live in the community. For Canada this is super important since they do not want people to obtain permanent residency in one of these rural cities and then move to other cities. Intention to live in the community can be demonstrated in several ways, some of them are: - Paying rent - Children enrolled in school - That you or your partner have a stable job - Gym membership.
- The studies must be superior to a post secondary program. a. In the case of studying at a college, the program cannot last less than two years. b. If it is a master's degree or a phd, in this case the study time can be less than 2 years. Now it is very important to keep in mind that if you are thinking of doing a twining educational program in order to complete the study time of 2 years, this will not work. That is to say that this type of program will not help to obtain permanent residency with this program.
- You must be a full-time student.
- You must apply for permanent residency within 18 months of graduating from college, master's or phd degree.
- No more than half of the program can be completed outside of Canada in order to obtain the residency. In other words, if the student program you have chosen allows you to study virtually, from your country of residence, it is important that you complete more than half of the program in Canada.
- You cannot have a scholarship program that forces you to return to your country.
