When we talk about studying in Canada, it's important to talk about money. You have to know that it is quite a big investment. To invest is to expect a return, a benefit, so why not invest in a province that will give us the benefit of permanent residency?

The process we know so far is: 1) I travel to Canada, 2) study, 3) get the post graduation work permit, 3) get work experience, and as an employee 4) apply for permanent residency, right?

What if from this equation we remove work experience, and from study, we jump to talk about residency?

Well, let's do it, because this is now possible, when studying a master's degree in one of these two provinces: Ontario or British Columbia. Both provinces reward their master's degree graduates by giving them permanent residency.

How does this work?

At British ColumbiaThe International Post Graduate Stream program rewards graduates from certain universities, such as: British Columbia Institute of Technology, Royal Roads University, Simon Fraser University, Thompson Rivers University, University of British Columbia or Callaghan and University of British Columbia Vancouver, University of Northern British Columbia, University of Victoria and private institutes, such as: The Fairleigh Dickinson University, New York Institute of Technology, Northeastern University and Trinity Western University.

Once you have chosen a private university or institute, you should know thatthe career you choose must be related to natural or health sciences and have been completed at least three years ago, not more thanthree years ago. It does not require a job offer, which makes this program a very attractive plan to apply just for the fact of having a diploma.

But if you want more freedom, let's talk about the Ontario programWhat do you need: Graduation from a university with a degree that lasted at least one year, i.e. 12 months full time, proof that you intend to live in the province and that you have a level of English: CLB 7.

This last point is very important, as what these provinces want and expect is for you to demonstrate a genuine intention to stay and live there after graduation. You are legal in Canada, you are entitled to receive a valid post graduation work permit , and you can see your investment in permanent residency pay off without worrying about getting Canadian work experience.
