WORKING IN CANADA AS A TOURIST IS NOT POSSIBLE
As of February 28, 2023, the policy whereby persons in Canada with valid tourist status who obtain an offer of employment may apply within Canada for a work permit has been extended for 2 years.

It is important to note that in the past it was not possible to change status within Canada, so tourists who found a job offer had to return to their home countries and apply for a work permit from there.
However, this news is generating a lot of confusion in the Latino community who think that people in Canada with tourist status can work. This statement or belief is quite dangerous as it is a completely illegal practice that can result in the deportation of people from Canada.
Consequently, it is important to clarify the following points:
1- No person with an ETA or tourist visa can work in Canada,
2- It is illegal to work while seeking the job offer. There is no way to become legal afterwards.
3- When you get a job offer and apply for a work permit and are waiting for a response, it is not possible to work as a tourist.
The proper way to use this policy is to get the job offer, apply for the work permit and wait for a response from the permit without working while waiting.
The consequences of working without authorization in Canada are not only immigration-related, as people face imminent deportation, but also the fact that people are unable to find a place to live because apartment owners do not rent to tourists and banks do not allow tourists to open bank accounts in Canada.
In Canada there are no ways to give welfare to people who do things illegally. That is why we call for awareness and sanity to do things the right way.
