To get to Canada there are two options:

  • Temporary: with work and study visa
  • Permanent: apply for direct residence.

Here we are going to see how to arrive with permanent residency without being a professional and with work experience in a TEER 4 or 5, the former NOC C or NOC D.

The name of the program is:

International Skilled Worker: Hard to fill skills pilot, i.e.: Pilot program for workers in hard to fill occupations. 

There are two different paths, depending on your location.

  1. If you have never been to Canada, you must prove to the Saskatchewan government that you have experience in the same field for more than one year in your home country.
  2. If you are already in Saskatchewan with your partner. Who has an open work visa and has acquired in 6 months 780 hours of work experience with the employer who gave you the work approval letter. 

Program requirements: 

  • For both cases a CLB 4 language level is required.
  • Your experience must be within the last 3 years. 
  • If you did not study in Canada, you must comply with the Educational credential assessment (ECA), evaluation of your previous studies, you can do it with World Education Services or WES, its acronym in English. You are required to have at least a high school diploma in your country of origin. 

To apply for permanent residency you must have an offer of employment:

  1. From a saskatchewan employer,
  2. Permanent,
  3. Full-time,
  4. Validated by the province of Saskatchewan

Some of the jobs that apply here are: 

  • Workers in processing, manufacturing and utilities
  • Workers in food, beverage and associated products processing. 
  • Metal fabrication workers 
  • Industrial painters 
  • Coaters and metal finishing process operators
  • Assemblers and mechanical inspectors
  • Industrial butchers and meat cutters
  • Poultry preparers and poultry related workers
  • Process control and operators of food and beverage machines and associated products. 
  • Sawmill machine operators
  • Machining machine operators 
  • Metallurgical and forging machine operators. 
  • Drilling, maintenance and related oil and gas workers 
  • Agricultural workers in general.
  • Helpers and laborers in construction trades. 
  • Operators of heavy equipment, except cranes. 
  • Transport truck drivers.
  • Material Handlers
  • Janitors, security guards and building superintendents
  • Cleaning personnel 
  • Counter assistant
  • Store shelf stockers
  • Hotel Front Desk Clerk
  • Waiters
  • Home support workers
  • Homemaker and allied health occupations
  • Nursing assistants, orderlies and patient service associates.
  • Warehousing and spare parts
  • Dispatchers
  • Carriers and receivers. 

If you meet the eligibility requirements, the steps to follow are:

To apply you need to have a job offer which you can get at this link. Your employer must have a job offer approved by saskatchewan, the employer uploads it to the saskatchewan portal, the job offer is approved and you can apply.

On the Government of Saskatchewan website under "How to apply" follow the instructions. 

Once these steps have been completed, the only thing left to do is to wait for the decision on permanent residency.
