International students in Canada will be able to work full time!
Excellent news for international students in Canada, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced this important reform this morning in Canada's capital, Ottawa. From November 15, 2022 until December 31, 2023, international students in Canada with a work permit will be able to work more than 20 hours per week off campus while class is in session.
This temporary measure will also apply to foreigners who have already submitted an application for a study permit. They will also be able to benefit from this policy if their study permit is approved.
This measure is intended to alleviate the labour shortage that is being explained across Canada. Canada is dealing with a historic labor shortage and an unemployment rate that is low by historical standards. This morning, Statistics Canada reported that Canada's unemployment rate fell to 5.2 percent in September, down from 5.4 percent in August.
