Entrepreneurs, this Canadian program is for you! What is it about?
Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is focused on the province of Alberta and is aimed at those entrepreneurs, who don't want to be employees, they want to be entrepreneurs.
So, are you an entrepreneur, a person who loves business, who wants to start your own business or buy it after graduation? If the answer is yes, this Alberta plan may be a very good option for you. You don't need experience as an employee in Canada after graduation to get permanent residency . We'll tell you about it!
What is the government looking for? The government wants the person who decides to graduate from college and start a business to have an innovative business idea that will bring economic benefit to Alberta, that has new ideas, that is goods or services, and that is a business that is focused on making a profit. If you create a non-profit organization, it does not count.
Eligibility criteria:
Education: You must have completed at least 2 years of full-time studies at a college or university in Alberta, which at the end, after graduation, will grant the Post Graduation Work Permit, since to apply, you must have a 100% valid work permit. *Remember that language courses do not apply.
Languages: English or French level. Demonstrated in an IELTS or CELPIP English test. General IELTS, CELPIP for English. If French: TEF or TCF will do. The required score is a CLB7.
Creation or purchase of the business: You must own at least 34% of the company. If you own less, it is no good. In addition to giving the possibility of being a business that you establish and create, or a business that you purchase in the province of Alberta.
Now, how does this work?
Basically, the system will give you a series of points, which will also take into account elements such as your work experience. If you have work experience of at least six months, in your own company or outside, you will have a better chance of increasing your points.
Bring economic benefit to the province. By creating jobs, investing in the economic sector, whether it's focused on the external part of Alberta, large cities, provinces, remote Alberta cities, rural sectors, plus the investment, that is, the amount of money invested, the government is going to value all of these points to give you, greater elements of positive results.
Age; you must be between 21 and 49 years of age. If you are older than 49, you cannot apply for this plan.
If you are in the province of Alberta with your partner, your partner must have at least one year of work experience or have studied in the province in less than two years and have an English or French level of CLB 5. This will give you extra points.
If you have a family or relative in Alberta, which can be a father, stepfather, mother, stepmother, child, stepchild, sister or brother, you will also earn extra points .
So, basically, you are going to upload all that information such as: your previous studies, your work experience, all the information about your work-educational background, both in your country of origin and in Canada, in Alberta. And so, the government is going to value all your points to give you a maximum of 125 points, and then, they are going to establish the selection rounds and they are going to choose by provincial nomination the people who are going to get permanent residency.
