You may be required to quarantine yourself for 14 days and complete COVID-19 testing upon arrival in Canada by day 8. You may also be fined $5,000 CAD plus applicable surcharges.
2. Travelers who are not fully vaccinated:
If you do not qualify as fully vaccinated, you may not be allowed to enter Canada. If you are allowed entry, you must complete a COVID-19 arrival test. You must also complete a COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of your mandatory 14-day quarantine.
If you complete your test through an in-person appointment, you must return immediately to your quarantine site.
- You can take public transportation, including connecting flights to your quarantine site without waiting for the results of your arrival test.
3. Arrival by air:
When you enter Canada, check your email to see if you need to complete a proof of arrival. An email will be sent to the same email address you used for ArriveCAN.
You will receive an email within 15 minutes of completing your customs declaration and receiving your kiosk receipt. This email will have important information about where and when you should test.
You will receive an email from noreply.pasdereponses@notification.canada.ca or cuarentena.covid19.quarantaine@phac-aspc.gc.ca. Follow the instructions in the email.
You can complete your test in person or pick up a swab kit at selected test provider locations, selected pharmacies or by virtual appointment for a swab test.
You can take advantage of locations close to the airport, when available, to complete your proof of arrival in the quickest and easiest way.
4. Arrival by land:
If you have to do an arrival test, you will be given a swab kit when you arrive at a land border crossing. You will complete your self-sample kit through a virtual telehealth appointment with your testing provider. You will need to follow the instructions on your swab kit to complete the test at your destination. If you are unable to complete a video call, you will need to contact your testing provider for alternative testing options.
Use only the test kit received at the land border or from the approved test provider. Tests performed with any other test kit will not be valid for the testing requirement.
