This is great news for those dreaming of permanent residency in Canada. For the first time, Express Entry candidates will be able to anticipate government moves to raise their profile and compete with a better chance of success. An internal Canadian immigration report has revealed the plan for pending invitations for the rest of the year, and this includes sectors such as education, health, social services and trades.
In this blog, you will find a guide to plan your immigration strategy more accurately according to the government's plan. Read with me to the end and find out how many invitations remain to be categorized. Let's get started!
What IRCC's internal plan reveals
This plan is based on category-based draws. Most Invitations to Apply (ITAs) that correspond to the second half of 2025 are aligned with the Immigration Plan for the 2026 targets. This means that the opportunities are clearer to map out your plan as a candidate, improve the weaknesses in your profile or enhance those that benefit you the most.
Number of invitations by category by 2025
The government report assigns a specific number of invitations for three priority categories, and this is the number of ITAs yet to be issued:
- Education Professionals: in total, 3000 ITAs have been allocated, of which 1000 have been issued, so there are still 2000 invitations available. If your profile fits this category, do not hesitate to work on your score to compete successfully and have your documents up to date, especially academic credentials with the ECA assessment.
- Healthcare Workers: out of a total of 8000 ITAs planned, and 7500 sent, 500 invitations remain available. The number is lower for this category, so eligible candidates should keep their documents current and their profile updated, ready to compete.
- Trades: a total of 3300 ITAs have been allocated for 2025, at the date of publication of this article, none have been issued yet. This means that there is a chance of being invited. If you work in skilled trades, don't hesitate to refine your profile and keep up to date with upcoming draws.
The French factor remains a priority
Although French language proficiency is not included in the above categories , it remains a top priority for the federal government. Drawings for French speakers will continue to be frequent with the issuance of numerous ITAs. IRCC's goal is to admit 8.5% French-speaking population. No matter what your primary occupation is, if you speak French, you have great advantages to successfully compete in the Express Entry system.
An Express Entry calendar for your planning
Perhaps the most relevant news is that the IRCC will share a three-month calendar with the provinces and territories. This will include the estimated weeks for the draws, the type of round and a projection of the minimum score. This is unusual in the Express Entry system, however, now that it will be available, you have more predictability about government and provincial movements on your side , which will help you plan your next steps. Take advantage of this opportunity!
How to prepare?
The first step is to evaluate your profile. Use the CRS Calculator from Immiland Canada to get an estimate of your score based on your age, education, work experience and languages. This will give you a clear idea of where you stand.
If your score is not high enough, improve your profile in key areas:
- Work on raising your language level to increase your English or French test scores.
- Validate your studies with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
- Organize your work documents and obtain reference letters.
Once you have strengthened your profile, create your Express Entry account and make sure that all the information you provide is accurate and supported by the correct documentation.
Every effort you make now will increase your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) before the end of 2025.
