Yukon to accept PR applications for nominee plan in 2025
In Canada, the Yukon government has implemented an admissions approach for permanent residence applicants through the Yukon Nominee Plan (YNP). The first period kicks off on January 29 with 125 applications and it is anticipated that these periods will occur every three months.
Yukon and its nominee plan is today's topic for Immiland's blog, so, if you are thinking about settling in Canada, this territory may be a permanent residency alternative. Read with me to the end and learn about the details of the YNP program. Let's get started.
Yukon will receive a fixed quota of applications for each admission.
Yukon will handle a limit of permanent residence applications for each open period. Previously, applications were received continuously throughout the year, but due to a surge in applications, which led to even exceeding the region's allocation limit, the government decided to temporarily suspend them. This year, the process is reopening and on January 29, the territory will receive 125 applications from foreigners wishing to work and live in Yukon, then will open other admission periods, which are expected to be quarterly, and so on throughout the year, although the territorial government has not advanced the schedule.
How does the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) work?
The YNP is a territorial government plan that is aligned with the federal government through Express Entry and seeks to attract more immigrants to the region to contribute to its economy.
The Yukon Nominee Plan focuses on skilled workers and entrepreneurs with work and academic experience commensurate with the territory's most critical needs based on its labor dynamics.
By being aligned with Express Entry, the YNP can then receive a quota of nominations from the federal government from the periodic draws conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Yukon Express Entry
Yukon Express Entry is an enhanced category available to the territory, which is distinct from the basic categories, which are not linked to Express Entry and rely solely on the provincial government's management for invitations to apply.
This means that if a person interested in a territory or province has a profile on the Express Entry portal, then he or she will be assigned a score according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and will be able to participate in IRCC's handling of the major economic class immigration programs for nomination.
Express Entry through the Yukon Territory is basically for qualified foreign workers who have a valid job offer for a permanent, full-time job in the territory. As for local employers, if they are unable to fill critical vacancies with natives or permanent residents, then they will have access to the pool of applicants through the Express Entry System to receive new qualified foreign workers.
Living in Yukon as an immigrant
Yukon is one of Canada's three territories along with its ten provinces. It is located in the extreme northwest of the country, geographically close to Alaska! This means that the average temperature is quite low, in fact, the predominant climate is subarctic.
As an immigrant, living in Yukon can be a very good experience for professional and economic growth in one of the most peaceful and close to nature regions in Canada.
The Yukonian community is welcoming and also multicultural, which facilitates the integration of new residents. The languages spoken in the region are English and French, so it is important for the immigrant to master them. The best thing is that the quality of life is quite high. Yukon has a small population of just over 45,000 inhabitants. Its only city and capital is Whitehorse, a peaceful region with access to essential services, outdoor adventure life and a growing economy.
