On April 14, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw through the Express Entry system, issuing 825 invitations to apply for permanent residence (ITA), remarkable news as this was the first draw of the month and marked a before and after in changing the CRS score for concerted job offer.

Candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 764 and to have created their profile by August 17, 2024. Today we will take a look at the provincial nomination draws by Express Entry and the trend in this type of invitations in 2025 to qualify for permanent residence in Canada. Let's get started!

Trends 2025 in PNP-Express Entry Invitations

In the recent 2025 Express Entry draws for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Canada's provinces and territories have nominated candidates with the required profile to meet the specific economic and labour needs of each region, and as of the date of publication of this article, the following has been observed:

  1. Frequency of drawings
Draw number Date Invitations issued CRS Score
342 April 14, 2025 825 764
340 March 17, 2025 536 736
338 March 3, 2025 725 667
336 February 17, 2025 646 750
334 February 4, 2025 455 802
331 January 7, 2025 471 793

As can be seen in the table, PNP draws occur, on average, every two weeks, reflecting the importance of this program in the Canadian immigration system.

  1. Higher CRS scores: Provincially nominated candidates tend to have high CRS scores, as the provincial nomination awards an additional 600 points. For example, in the April 14, 2025 draw, the minimum score was 764, while in other recent draws, scores have ranged from 667 to 802.
  2. Number of invitations issued: The number of ITAs issued varies according to the needs of each province. In the most recent draw, 825 ITAs were issued, while in other NPP draws, the numbers have fluctuated between 455 and 825.

While only the type of round for the Provincial Nominee Program was considered in this table, there is a combination with other draws by category, where Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and French Proficiency are highlighted, indicating a concerted effort to attract immigrants with specific skills that contribute to Canada's economic growth.

Impact of the NPP on the immigration system

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a key that unlocks the opportunity to live and work in a Canadian province. This program allows local governments to select skilled workers, entrepreneurs and other candidates who have the potential to establish themselves economically in their regions.

Recommendations for Express Entry candidates

To be successful in the Express Entry system, it is critical to prepare from day one, even from the home country. Gathering documents, language proficiency, obtaining educational credentials and other factors can take time. Therefore, it is key to follow these steps:

Preparation of the profile

Candidates interested in the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) must ensure that they meet the specific requirements of the province in which they wish to settle. These include:

  • Investigate provinces with programs aligned to your professional profile.
  • Verify eligibility criteria and make sure you meet them.
  • Maintain updated essential documents, such as certificates of studies and work experience.

2. CRS score optimization

Obtaining a provincial nomination is an effective strategy to significantly increase your CRS score and improve your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). To do so:

  • Improve the level of English or French through recognized certifications.
  • Obtain work experience in Canada if possible.
  • Evaluate study options in Canada for additional points.

Additional tips from Immiland Canada

There are key strategies that consolidate the candidate's profile for Express Entry, these are:

  1. Verify documentation: make sure that employment letters, transcripts and language tests are complete and up to date.
  2. Consult with a regulated advisor: if there are doubts about the process, seek certified professional guidance.
  3. Improve your work and academic profile: if you have not yet received an ITA, it is advisable to continue accumulating experience and improve your level of studies or language.
  4. Knowing the priority categories: in 2025, Canada has prioritized sectors such as health, education, skilled trades and the French-speaking world.
  5. Avoid errors in the application: answer accurately each item of the form and avoid assumptions that may affect the evaluation.

According to the Immigration Levels Plan 2025-2027, the country plans to receive 124,680 new permanent residents through this system.

Candidates who receive an ITA have 60 days to submit their application for permanent residency, accompanied by documents such as passport, birth certificate, employment certificates, criminal record, medical examination and proof of funds.
