First Express Entry draws in September 2025: thousands of ITAs and focus on French-speakers

First Express Entry draws in September 2025: thousands of ITAs and focus on French-speakersFirst Express Entry draws in September 2025: thousands of ITAs and focus on French-speakers

In the first days of September 2025, the Canadian government has issued thousands of invitations in different categories for qualified foreigners who could obtain permanent residency.

The most notable draw was undoubtedly the one for the French Proficiency category, a further demonstration that this language is a master key to live and work in Canada. Other equally important draws have taken place in these first days, read with me to the end and discover the categories prioritized by IRCC. Let's get started!

French-speaking draw: more invitations and less scoring

On September 4, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a total of 4500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates in the French Proficiency category. This number represents an 80% increase compared to the August draw, a good sign that the government is looking to meet its French-speaking immigration goals outside of Quebec.

The Comprehensive Rating System (CRS) score for this draw was 446, demonstrating that the competition is more flexible when category-specific criteria are met. This low score, compared to the "all-program" draws (where competition is higher), is one of the most accessible doors for otherwise ineligible profiles.

Let's remember that the Canadian government has a long-term commitment to strengthening French-speaking communities in Canada, and these sweepstakes are the main tool to achieve this.

Other Express Entry sweepstakes during the month

This September has been a dynamic month at Express Entry from the very beginning.

  • On September 2 (PNP), IRCC issued 249 ITAs to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates with a CRS score of 772

This high score is a reflection of the competitive advantage of obtaining a provincial nomination, which awards an additional 600 points to the candidate's base score, virtually guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residency.

It should be taken into account that there is a constant demand for skilled labor for specific positions in the provinces, so it is a good opportunity to adapt the migration profile to local needs in Canada.

  • On September 3 (CEC), IRCC issued 1000 ITAs to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates with a CRS score of 534. Although the number of invitations was lower, this draw is a reminder of the importance that Canada places on profiles that already have work experience in the country.

Projections and recommendations for successful implementation

The Canadian government has unveiled its pending invitation plan for the remainder of 2025, focusing on category-based draws. Rounds for PNP and Francophones are expected to continue, and rounds for Education Professionals, Health Care Workers and Skilled Trades are expected to intensify.

If your score is not high enough, the time to act is now. We recommend that you improve your profile in these areas:

  • Language: Work on your level of English or French to raise your scores on official exams. High scores can make a critical difference.
  • Studies: obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to have your foreign studies recognized in Canada.
  • Documentation: Have your reference letters and other employment and personal documents ready.

Once you have enhanced your immigration profile, create your account on the Express Entry portal and provide the required information. If you have any doubts in the process, consult with a Canadian immigration specialist.

At Immiland Canada, we are prepared to handle your case. You can request a free evaluation of your profile or schedule an immigration consultation directly.

At Express Entry, every effort you make now will increase your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) before the end of 2025, so take control of your process sooner rather than later!

We wish you a lot of success in your application. Thanks for reading, see you in the next blog!

With love,
