Professional Success Is a Choice: How to Go from Engineering in Latin America to a Master's Degree in Robotics in Germany

Are you one of those technology professionals who see little potential for growth in your country? If so, studying abroad is a good strategy for expanding your horizons, and the real leap forward lies in the heart of Europe.
In this blog post, I’ll explain how to transition from a career in technology in Latin America to studying abroad in Germany—the epicenter of Industry 4.0. Learn about the partner universities where you can pursue your degree and how the Immiland Education team can help you make your dream a reality.
The Key to Academic Success in Germany
Today, professional growth in the field of technology is more important than ever, and pursuing a master's degree in Robotics Engineering at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) is the key to achieving it.
The EU is a private institution with a multi-channel, international approach; its main and administrative headquarters are in Germany, although it has several campuses throughout the region. Here, I’m sharing an administrative and academic log to guide you:
Stages of the Logbook
Studying in Germany sounds very interesting, but to make your dream come true, you need to get organized before you leave home.
Success lies in methodically following each step of the process:
1. Academic Admissions Stage (Matching Your Profile)
In addition to submitting your translated and certified transcripts, at this stage you will need to collect and process:
- Credential Evaluation: The conversion of your Latin American engineering degree to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
- Language Certification: The program is taught 100% in English. You will need an official certificate (IELTS or TOEFL) confirming your B2 or C1 level.
- Project portfolio and technical resume: Demonstrate your previous experience in autonomous systems, logic, or software development.
2. Financial Phase (Financial Incentives)
One of the biggest myths about studying in Europe is that it’s unaffordable. This is completely false. In fact, in 2026, the University of Europe is offering scholarships and discounts ranging from 20% to 35% for international students. This makes the master’s program much more affordable, with tuition ranging from €9,600 to €20,000.
- Opening a Blocked Account (Sperrkonto): To obtain a visa, the German government requires you to prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself. To do so, students must open a special bank account in Germany (through official providers such as Fintiba or Expatrio) and deposit the annual amount required by law.
3. Student Visa Stage (Visum zu Studienzwecken)
With your letter of acceptance from the EU and confirmation of your Sperrkonto, you will begin the formal application process at the German embassy or consulate in your country. You must submit proof of valid health insurance in Germany and a strategically written statement of purpose explaining why robotics in Germany is your goal.
4. Job Placement Phase (Post-Study Visa)
Upon graduation, the German government will grant you a job-seeking visa valid for up to 18 months. Now is the time to join pioneering automation companies and take advantage of the extensive and attractive immigration opportunities the country offers to highly qualified professionals.
What trending areas does the EU cover?
During the program, students will learn specialized content in key, trending areas:
- Autonomous Systems: State-of-the-art guided vehicles and drones.
- Advanced Industrial Automation: Connecting and Optimizing Smart Supply Chains.
- Applied Robotics and Artificial Intelligence: Programming neural networks that control hardware in real time.
How does the academic process begin in the EU?
To take each step with confidence and assurance, it’s best to work with those who understand the process. That’s why, at Immiland Education, we support the Latino community.
