Super visa
A super visa offers permanent residents and/or Canadian citizens the possibility to bring their parents or grandparents to Canada for up to 5 consecutive years.

The extension of this visa is up to 10 years. However, at the time of entry into Canada, a border services officer will confirm how long you can stay.
If the length of stay granted at the time of entry into Canada is 2 years, and you wish to benefit from a longer stay, you will have to leave Canada before the end of your authorized stay and re-enter Canada after July 4, 2022. The border services officer can grant you a stay of up to 5 years if you meet all the requirements.

  • Must be outside of Canada at the time of application.
  • Dependents cannot be included in the application for this visa.
  • The child or grandchild who invites you must show that your household meets the minimum income requirements.
  • IRCC also considers different factors when evaluating this visa, such as:
  1. Ties to their country of origin.
  2. Its economic and financial stability.
  3. The purpose of the visit.
  • Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • Have a signed letter from your child or grandchild inviting you to Canada that includes: (1) Promise of financial support. (2) List of people living in the household. (3) Proof of citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company, for a coverage of at least CAD$100,000.00 dollars.
