Letter of request

This letter of inquiry is generally received when the IRCC needs additional documents before making a decision on an application for temporary residence (visitor visa, study permit or work permit) or permanent residence. It is also a mechanism for communicating procedural fairness.

Many times you must respond with an explanatory letter touching on each point requested by IRCC and alluding to your documents that support your arguments.

What kind of information is required through a Request Letter?

IRCC generally requests additional information about financial background to support an application for a study visa or permanent residence, additional evidence to demonstrate a legitimate spousal or family relationship, documents to determine criminal or medical inadmissibility, labor certifications to substantiate work experience related to a job offer when applying for a work permit or express entry, etc.
